The Moshi club golf course is currently a nine hole golf course, and has room for another nine holes.
It is built at the foot of the tallest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro . It is the golf course where one can see the great tourist attraction, the snow capped mountain a few degrees south of the equator, from everywhere on the golf course.
The Moshi club Golf course is one of the oldest golf courses in Tanzania . It was first built in 1920. in the centre of Moshi town in a place where we now have the Regional and Municipal Government offices.
The course was moved to the present location in the early sixties.
In the sixties and seventies the region had enough rains and the fairways were generally green.
As years passed, for many reasons there were less and less rains, and an irrigation system was built, drawing water from the river Karanga which boarders the course on the western side. With fewer rains now, there is not enough water in the river for irrigation.
There are plans under way, (subject to the availability of funds) for the construction of a borehole to have enough water for the greens and the fairways.
